The halls of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital were filled with excitement as two special guests came to tour the facilities and pay a visit to the patients. Aimee Carrero, voice of Disney’s first Latina princess, Elena of Avalor, and Latin Grammy award-winner and singer-songwriter, Gaby Moreno, who sings the theme song for the new series, were able to bring countless smiles to the patients and their families’ faces, and learn more about our cause.
Carrero and Moreno toured the hospital and visited the Telehealth Center, Cardiac Unit and Michael Fux Family Center. They learned about the hospital’s Telehealth program and were impressed by how the expertise of Nicklaus Children’s subspecialties helped children not only in South Florida, but all over the world. On the next leg of the tour, Dr. Anthony Rossi, Director of Cardiac Intensive Care, showed Carrero and Moreno around the cardiac unit while explaining the incredible work done at one of the hospital’s Centers of Excellence. After the tour, they headed to the Michael Fux Family Center where patients of all ages filled the theatre for a special screening of the new Disney animated television series “Elena of Avalor,” which is set to premiere July 22 on Disney Channel. After the screening, Moreno performed an acapella version of the fairytale’s theme song with help from Carrero and got a cheering applause for all the patients.
